Any company involved in providing security services, such as:
If you offer any of these services, this insurance is essential to protect your business from risks.
Your business must be registered with the Private Security Industry Regulatory Authority (PSIRA) to qualify.
It works on a claims-made basis, meaning it covers claims first made during the insurance period, as long as the incident occurred on or after the Retroactive Date.
This date sets the start point for when incidents are covered. Claims for incidents that happened before this date won’t be covered. Usually, the Retroactive Date is when you first bought a similar claims-made policy and renewed it without gaps.
If the policy ends, it won’t cover any new claims, even if the incident occurred while the policy was active.
The standard limit is up to R10 million per year, but higher limits can be arranged (up to R50 million), subject to approval.
Per Claim: The maximum amount paid out for one specific claim or related claims.
Aggregate: The total amount paid out for all claims during the policy period, usually one year.
This policy works on an aggregate basis, meaning the total payout for all claims in a year won’t exceed the limit.
This is the portion of a claim that you need to pay before the insurer covers the rest. Think of it as your share of the risk.
General Public Liability: Covers accidents or damages related to running your business, like property damage or injury, excluding anything related to security work or pollution.
Professional Indemnity: Covers mistakes made while offering professional advice, like training or consulting.
Security Liability: Covers incidents like injuries, property damage, or wrongful arrests caused during active security duties.
We include some options automatically and offer others as add-ons, such as:
Yes! Theft by security personnel is covered under the Fidelity Risk Extension, and incidents involving firearms can be covered under the Firearm Extension.
